Description of Workshops:
Times and additional activities To Be Announced.
Grant Writing: How to find and apply for Grants: An Online Exploration.
We will locate and evaluate grants for research, education, and community. We will discuss strategies leading to successful grant applications.
Facilitated by Joanne Harrison and Winona Wynn.
Technical Communication: The "Define and Describe Method" of the BIA and other institutions.
We will help move you from the narrative to the technical aspects of writing by locating the commonalities and distinguishing the definition from the description. You will gain an understanding of how organizations read, organize ideas, and engage in transactional writing.
Facilitated by Becky Wagenblast.
Native American Reading and Writing: Emerging Voices, Memories, and Story.
You will be asked to examine the connections between reading and writing and how this then translates into the classroom through methodology, curriculum design, and pedagogies. Moreover, a critical framework will be explored and examination of the objectives and resulting outcomes produced.

Oral Histories and the Retelling of Our Elder's Memories: Archiving Our Past into a Textual History.
We will discuss and build on an ethnographic concept of our people through the process of gathering our Elder's memories/stories and how they might translate into the modern landscapes of our people, youth and future generations

Limited enrollment of 20 people. Registration Fees of $125 are due at time of registration.  Refunds are made at the discretion of WSU. Request for refund must be received at least two weeks from the start of workshop. A limited number of partial scholarships are available. Please inquire at time of application.

Included in the workshop fee:

  • Catered daily open breakfast bar
  • Three (3) lunches
  • Two (2) dinners (including Salmon Welcome Dinner)
  • Housing for three (3) nights on campus (Honors Hall)

NAWW Workshop may be eligible for: Continuing Education Credits University Credit. Fees for CEUs/Credit Hours are not included in cost of attendance.
